We’re back with more heavily converted Space Marines for our Adeptus Mechanicus themed chapter the Iron Guard. Today we are adding a second 10 man Tactical Squad to the army and just as with the first squad, every single model is heavily converted with bionics, servo arms and other upgrades.
Starting the the sergeant of the Iron Guard Tactical Squad, you can see we used a modified Iron Warriors head, 2 servo arms to represent his extra attack over a basic marine, and a scratchbuilt bionic leg using plasticard. His wargear replicates what we saw on the sergeant in the 1st Tactical Squad, a bolt pistol and combi-plasma. The combi-plasma arm is magnetised at the wrist to that we can swap guns if needed, and the pistol arm is magnetised at the shoulder, should we need to upgrade him with a powerfist.
First of the basic Iron Guard marines, this guy has a scratch built servo arm and bionic upper leg. He also makes use of the bionic eye helmet from the Space Marine Devastator kit.
Rather than a servo arm, this Iron Guard marine carries upgraded communications and targeting gear. His whole right leg has been replaced with a bionic leg purchased from Maxmini.
Another Iron Guard Marine making use of the devastator helmet, this guy has a scratchbuilt servo arm, upper leg and forearm.
The special weapon Marine of the squad comes with backpack mounted communications and targeting gear, and is magnetised within the hand so that plasma, melta, and flame weapons can be equipped as needed. He has a bionic upper leg and forearm.
Here we have another bionically enhanced Iron Guard Marine, this time with a bionic leg. We’re actually in two minds about this one and are thinking about going back and changing the design of the armour plate on his leg …what do you think? He is equipped with backpack mounted targeting gear and a chainsword bayonet attached to his bolter.
Quite a lot of scratchbuilding attached to this Iron Guard Marine, including his servo arm and right leg. As with the previous Marine, this battle brother is equipped with a chainsword bayonet attached to his bolter.
This Iron Guard Marine has a servo arm from the missile devastator backpack, along with bionic legs from the Iron Hands box set.
In addition to the his backpack mounted targeting and communications gear, this marine has a full bionic leg replacement from Maxmini, and makes use of the arms from the Iron Hands box set.
Lastly we have the heavy weapon specialist of the Iron Guard squad, he is currently equipped with a Lascannon but with the aid of magnets this can be replaced with a selection of other heavy weapons. He is supported by a partially bionic leg, and is tied into the heavy weapons system with various cables.
We we can see our second Adeptus Mechanicus themed Iron Guard Space Marine Tactical Squad, ready for battle.
Now that we’ve got our HQ choice and 2 lots of troops built, the Iron Guard are starting to turn into a real Warhammer 40k army. We’ve got plenty of plans to take the Adeptus Mechanicus conversions further, this Techmarine Dreadnoughts, multiple Thunderfire Cannons, and upgraded Rhinos. Plus, with the release of Warhammer 40k 6th edition and the introduction of allies, we’re also planning more Adeptus Mechanicus conversions to represent a small army of Grey Knight Henchmen lead by an Inquisitor. This allied detachment will represent one of the Adeptus Mechanicus explorator forces, so the sky is the limit with conversion potential. We hope you have enjoyed looking at our Iron Guard Space Marines so far, be sure to let us know your comments and ideas!
