Mysterious Woods and Waters Terrain Markers Review

mysterious woods and waters terrain markersWelcome today’s review in which we will be solving the mystery of wargaming terrain! Several of our favorite wargames use rules for mysterious terrain features in which you discover just how serene or deadly the terrain is once your miniatures move into it. The Mysterious Woods and Mysterious Waters Terrain Markers from Gale Force Nine solve the issue of keeping track of these randomly generated terrain features by providing you with great looking, high quality markers to mark each terrain piece.

Both sets of markers come sealed in blister packs and are priced at £7.50 ($11.99) direct from GF9, here you can see the ones we ordered.

From now on when playing games like Warhammer & Warhammer 40k which involve mysterious terrain features, we’ll be able to roll on the chart to discover the type of terrain and then use the appropriate Mysterious Terrain Marker to keep track of it. In the picture below we have some trees used in one of our games of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, and rolling on the Mysterious Forests chart we got a 4 which is a Fungus Forest. In the past we would have had to remember what we rolled for each set of trees, but now we can simply place the GF9 Fungal Wood Marker beside the terrain and it’s plain to see in addition to looking great.

The Mysterious Waters Terrain Markers are designed to work in the same way, but this time focusing on water features in your games. Again we found 12 bright and colourful markers within the pack.

The Mysterious Waters markers are made in the same way as the Mysterious Woods ones we looked at earlier, and have the same good quality feel to them. Each marker design is a custom shape and has artwork depicting the particular type of river or water it represents, from Necrotic Ooze to Boiling Springs.
