Pathfinder Battles: Gargantuan Shemhazian Demon Review

A Gargantuan Shemhazian Demon is an enormous and terrifying creature from the Pathfinder Bestiary, mixing the most deadly aspects of a bear, a mantis, a wolf, and a reptilian humanoid. This premium figure is the finishing touch to the Pathfinder Battles: The Lost Coast miniatures set we recently reviewed, and is only available as a separate purchase to those random boosters.

Priced at around $39.99, this premium figure comes in a large box with some great artwork of the demon on the front. It also shows off The Lost Coast logo as this is the 45th figure in that set from the Pathfinder Battles Range by Paizo/WizKids. This box is quite heavy so we’re expecting a pretty serious figure inside!

The sides of the box show off a front view of the Gargantuan Shemhazian Demon, it looks like it’s got some pretty wicked teeth on it.

The rear of the box gives us a little background information on this terrifying demon “Shemhazian Demons are the apex predators of the Abyss -slaying mortal and demon alike. Formed from the twisted souls of torturers and mutilators, Shemhazians take perverse delight in dismembering and eating their victims”.

Opening up the box  you can see we have an absolutely massive “miniature” well protected in a plastic shell and held in place with twist-ties.

After fully removing the packaging we are left with our Gargantuan Shemhazian Demon, what a beast! This premium figure is made of solid plastic, and is so both heavy and durable.

Beneath the base of the Gargantuan Shemhazian Demon we can see the familiar printed text letting us know that this is the 45th miniature in The Lost Coast set.

Now that we’ve got this thing out of it’s packaging, we actually like it more than the artwork we saw on the side of the box. There’s lots of great details here from the mantis-like scythes to the horns, teeth, and spiky tail that flows around the model. The clawed hands are one of our favourite parts with their scaly/rocky texture and the red lines running through and over them.

Here is the Gargantuan Shemhazian Demon with 2 medium sized figures for scale. As you can see this demon completely towers over Justice Ironbriar and Brodert Quink, who are also from this Pathfinder Battles: The Lost Coast set. This would be a terrifying creature for any party to come up against.

To show off the scale between this and other gargantuan sized creatures, here’s the Gargantuan Shemhazian Demon alongside the Ancient Silver Dragon from the Dungeons and Dragons Elemental Evil set. We love that this demon is so solid and menacing, it basically looks like it could snatch the gargantuan dragon out of the air *gulp*

Honestly, we were not sure how much we were going to like this premium demon figure based on other photos we had seen, but now that we’ve seen one in person – it’s awesome! It’s such a solidly built and intimidating gargantuan creature, and will make a memorable boss battle for your Pathfinder RPG sessions. There’s no reason why you couldn’t make use of this if you play other RPG systems like Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) too since many RPGs include demons that must be vanquished. Let us know what you think of this gargantuan monster in the comments below, and if you’ve fought one we’d love to hear about it!
